10 Podcasts for the Millennial – Part II

As mentioned in Part I of 10 Podcasts for the Millennial,  Black voices are beginning to establish a place in the media world. We are being heard in discussions regarding news, politics, finance, entertainment, and pop culture.  Last week’s post suggested podcasts such as Melanin Millennial, On One with Angela Rye, and Black & Red to download for the latest celebrity gossip, popular reads, and political conversations.  As promised, here is Part II of the 10 Podcasts for the Millennial.

2 Dope Queens

Melanin Queens Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams are the hosts of the podcast 2 Dope Queens. This is basically a live comedy show.  Join Phoebe and Jessica, along with some of their favorite comedians as they converse about topics such as: hair journeys, race, relationships, and the dreaded duty of adulting.

Ignorant Philosophy

Finally something out of the Midwest (shoutout to Ohio)!  A lot of the podcasts I have listened to are based out of major cities like NYC, so the change of pace is refreshing.  During Ignorant Philosophy, this group of friends discuss the usual of paying bills, being Black in America, and being in love.  They are funny, real, and raw.

The Friend Zone

Mental health is a topic that cannot be discussed enough, especially in the black community.   In The Friend Zone, Fran, Dusty, and Assante cover all things mental wellness and mental hygiene. Thought provoking discussions include self-care tips and identifying your place on the mental spectrum.  Ideally, this is the podcast to listen to when you are unwinding after work with a glass of Moscato!

The Breakfast Club

A classic.  Everyone knows about the nationally syndicated radio talk show featuring trio Angela Yee, DJ ENVY (shoutout to the Real HU) and Charlamagne the God.  Personally, my favorite segments are “Get it Off Your Chest” and “Donkey of the Day.” These discussion will definitely keep you entertained all the way to work.

Black on the Air

Larry Wilmore is an Emmy award winning producer, actor, and comedian.  In Black on the Air, he touches on topics regarding issues on politics, entertainment, culture, and sports.
